Where It All Began
Kanpai has been part of the Los Angeles community since 2003. What started as a single neighborhood sushi restaurant has grown into four beloved locations across Los Angeles and Orange County.
Our name comes from the Japanese toast — 乾杯 — meaning to raise a glass together. It captures everything we believe in: good food, good company, and the warmth of sharing a meal.
Since beginning in Los Angeles in 2003, Kanpai has grown beyond California. Our story now continues in Japan with Sushi-dokoro Kanpai in Shimbashi, Tokyo — an intimate sushi restaurant rooted in Japanese craftsmanship and hospitality.
